10 din ka vanvaas !!!

tomorrow morning we leave for the 10 day "cleansing" called vipassana.......

7 hrs from pune there is a place called Igatpuri....the global temple of the vipassana ideology. During the next 10 days, we are required not to use any form of communication...yes no talking , no middlle finger etc etc....have to follow a trict regime when it comes to eating times....no newspapers etc etc....meditate for some 8-10 hrs a day after getting up at 4 in the morning.....

I am actually at a loss of words trying to describe the way i feel....

Although a bit of an introvert, I just cant visualise myself keeping silent for 10 days....guess all this does not make sense to a person who hates all this meditation crap and does not remember the last time he went to a place of worship....

its gonna be one hell of an experience.....will pen after I am back.....

lonavala trek...

this past saturday was just awesome...all of us got a welcome break from the daily hectic schedules as we went for a trek in the western ghats at a place in lonavla...

This name of this place, when translated , mean "black stone" and it was not difficult to see why. ..as the buses loaded with the kindergarten enthu students..i cud see the vast lushgraan patches of land marked by black boulders all over....it was an amazing site..

guiding us on the trek was a team of professional mountaineers led by one gentleman who, in his army days, has conquered the everest...although we knew that we are in safe hands, we soon realised how difficult and exciting a trek can be....

matters were made more interesting as it rained throughout the day and we walked, climbed and absailed the whole day soaked in rain....the trek had extremes of easy patches of land to really dangerous parts where one got really scared at times...

we trekked for almost two and a half hours to reach the cave under the 700 feet waterfall where we were given our lunch..plain chappati and aloo subji...and believe me...it was up there with one of the tastiest lunches I have ever had...

thr trek back somehow seemed to take longer....we, a bunch of 4 enthu ppl, took the lead and had the adventure of charting the way back with the help of the stonesigns that the guides had put up while we were going towards the waterfall....

the day left us totally drenched, very tired but with the sense of having a great day..

back to the hostel ...took a hot water bath...had chinese in the nearby retaurant and slept...fortunately we got sunday off....

parnab and other stuff..

In continuation to the previous post...

I sat thru the entire quiz conducted by Parnab Mukherjee....me am pretty convinced now that the guy is genuine. I did check up on few of the outlandish questions he asked in the "in"famous newspaper round....and yeah...the answers were correct.

The guy is just mind blowing...even if it is all faf...to come up with questions like this at such rocket speed is an unmatchable ability in itself.

The rains in Pune..it seems..are begigning to lessen now...it was two weeks of utter chaos...I mean continuos rains are okay...but this was just pouring all the time creating chaos everywhere in the city.My college thankfully is outside the main city...with a backdrop of hills...we were largely unaffected by the whole scene except for minor travel restrictions to the city and a few visiting lecturers from bombay not being able to make it.

There is one thing for which all of us arfe cursing the rains though.....we have a dhobi who picks up clothes and washes and irons the for really cheap rates....now this guy has not turned up for the last 8 days...my my...i am totally out of clothes....actually am wearing my roomie's shirt right now..

am recalling the days in delhi when we used to love it when it rains...:-)

What a mess!!!

back to blogging...

A fellow symbi college in pune is hosting a tech fest...although tech is certainly not our forte, me and sriram have anyway chosen to be omnipresent, supervising all the events.

Took part in the NFS competition yesterday...perhaps right to say that I got mothered. Although I did win the first round, coming second in the second round was not enough...only the winners coulld proceed.....neways..it was great fun.

Today is the last day of the event...we are taking part in the business quiz which is to be hosted by the "famous" Parnab Mukherjee...trying to do some research on the kind of quizzes he conducts...I came across some horrifying articles....I must admit even I thought that this guy is too good...if u think like me...read this

http://gauravsabnis.blogspot.com/2005/07/parnab.html

and this....

and this...

I am sure there is more stuff on the net....dont wanna read much and get freaked out...actually there is one good side to sll this...if making up answers is what u need to win this guy`s quizzes..me and sriram are good at it....the other day one of the questions in a quiz was...

"what was thw world wildlife fund renamed as in 1961(or some other year)?
we thought ...then again thought.....had many options ,one of them being"WWF"...lol....but we wrote the answer as....

"PRIME MINISTER`S RELIEF FUND"
