Art of Living !!

One of the distinguished features of my bskool is the emphasis (or over emphasis) on the holistic perspective of absolutely everything in life. Sometimes I get the feeling they are trying to make some super humans from us. I am being frank here, given a choice I would never have taken up something like vipassana or art of living...butas things are....I was not given a choice :-)

vipassana for me was a total no-no...10 days of silence...u must be kidding me.....but this art of living comes with a different flavour all together. To begin with....the "teacher" seems to be from a different breed altogether....the issue is that I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning. While all of us reach the meditation hall half asleep and rubbing our eyes....in walks our "teacher"..... All dressed up with a beautiful smile on her face wishing us all good morning. You cant help but admire the dedication...

The one thing that I am beginning to learn from the vipassana experience and the first 3 days of art of living is that if i have to do something...since I do not have an option....I'd rather try and do it seriously...It is very easy to be crib and pull the shutters down but I have decided to treat this course on its merit....lets see how it goes.

comfortably numb...

Its been....what...4 days since I landed in Pune...and to my amazement I am seeing how chill this sem is....may be its a relative thing after first sem which was so fu**ing hectic....but...hey I am not complaining...am pleasently surprised to see the list.

Have still not got over the delhi hangover i'd say....am choosing to just laze around and chill....have never read a harry porter or lord of the rings.....still considering whether I shud start reading em....read the papillon again in the last few days.....there is this book "princess" by Jean Sasson...a must read.....just got hold of "The Hitchhiker's Guide..."....planning to read it again....awesome book that...

movies...well....haven`t seen many of those lately.....was too lazy to but some in Delhi and there is nothing new on my laptop....so that's that.

I took the Air India flight from Delhi to Bom on my way back...as it turns out this was the flight coming from Hong Kong.....well...in an int'l flight u expect a big plane...it was....but the air hostesses....yuckity yuck....I dont think there was a single one below 45 in that gang....and there courtsey..or the lack of it was not helping either....I know this sounds pervertish....but I am sure most ppl would rather have some presentable air hostesses on board !!!

Played cricket today....after a long long time....and the immediate discovery was that I would be better of giving up for good....am too old for it now :-)

All the roomies are back from their respective trips now...mah room...and the next one...infact the whole hostel looks lively again....

chalo...gotta go for chai...although I am feverish...am very happy today...don't ask me why :-)

trip to delhi....

Nithya put it perfectly in her comment on my previous post.....after all the drama I did get to go to Delhi. Coelho`s statement is so true....did want to go back home very badly....and wallah...godsend....college decided to dend me to Delhi for 10 days for some official work.

The trip itself was amazing....Bombay-Pune expressway, Mumbai (all first time)....the train trip...enjoyed every bit.

In Delhi...went to each and every hangout that I had been missing for the last 5 months....had to work in b/w the enjoyment....guess its ok...caught up with friends..narrated MBA stories (already have many of them)....mom was just obliging with all my fav dishes :-).....Delhi metro rockssssss.....

10 days just passed in a flash....

There are a few things that sturuck me in this trip....one is that there is a palpable sense of fear back in Delhi....ppl are thinking twice about going to crowded markets....guess the bomb blasts have done their job....really hope the city gets its spirit back..

One thing that disgusted me is the state of out news channels....while some like NDTV, CNBC are doing a fantastic job....others , the hindi ones, have just become cheap television versions of the UK papparazzi and tabloids....every petty incident anywhere in the country becomes breaking news and the kind of news they are focussing on is sickening. There was hardly any coverage given to the Bihar elections...come on guys its a state election....instead that sick police guy who is acting like a gal and his petty family issues were hogging national airtime....

even if this is what sells....guess media should stand up and regulate itself.

Am back in Pune now....second sem is on....missed a few classes but thats ok....:-)

The term ends...

Just came out of my final paper for this term....the semester has been one helluva ride....my first time in a hohstel has taught me a lot of things.

am leaving for delhi today evening....a week in delhi and then back again in the thick of things with the new sem....i end the first term with many thoughts to myself.....sleep less, study more, talk less, walk more etc.....how many of those are implemented....well only time will tell.

have to leave for Bombay now....more later...
